ATTACK ON GARDAI IN BLACKWATER A DISTURBING AND DISGRACEFUL ACT

The disgraceful assault on three members of An Garda Siochana in Blackwater last Weekend is an indication of the savagery prevalent among some elements in our Society.
“All Right thinking Citizens will be outraged by this most disturbing event in our County. We ask unarmed men and women to stand between law abiding citizens and criminal thugs.
“We must ensure that they are supported by the broad community and given the equipment they need to do their difficult job.
“Only recently have anti-stab vests become available to An Garda Siochana. Their communication equipment is still inadequate and patchy. Few Members have access to, and training in the use of non-lethal weapons.
“A changing Irish Society demands that we constantly review the needs of our Police Force to ensure the forces of Law can meet and defeat any challenge to Public Order and the rights of law abiding citizens.
